The client is a leading international mining group, a London listed public company headquartered in the UK.
The Group's major products include aluminum, copper, diamonds, energy products, gold, industrial minerals (borates, titanium dioxide, salt and talc), and iron ore. Its activities span the world represented in Australia and North America and with significant businesses in South America, Asia, Europe and southern Africa.
The company is exploring for coal in Russia and seeks to appoint a Coal Geologist to be responsible for design and management of coal exploration and evaluation projects in Russia.
Your role objectives will include:
Design and manage of coal advanced exploration and evaluation projects to pre-feasibility level;
Due diligence assessments of potential acquisitions and joint ventures,Interpretation of complex coal analyses (chemical and physical tests) and other data in assessing bituminous and sub-bituminous coal types for cooking, thermal and other uses e.g., CTG, CTL;
Design of coal analytical programs and flow sheets including pre-treatment, float/sink and other test work;
Manage of new coal opportunities;
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and qualifications:
· Specific country knowledge, HSEC and Russian/English language skills would be advantageous;
· Good IT skills, comfortable with data management, analysis and presentation;
· Tertiary qualifications in Geology with at least 10 years coal experience;
· Membership of AusIMM or equivalent body and preferably coal “Competent Person” status;
· Good communication skills at all levels;
· Ability to plan strategically and manage budgets effectively;
· Self motivated and able to work autonomously, but a strong team player;
· Able to manage complexity and ambiguity. Innovative and good under pressure;
· Maintain focus on long term horizons while delivering short term objectives;
· Ability to travel frequently.
An attractive remuneration package and work schedule will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
This role is offered on either a FIFO or residential basis to be negotiated.
