Trainee Mud Logging Geologist

RESPONSIBILITIES include:
- Geological sample collection: preparation and description as
per oil industry standards
- Evaluation of all samples for the presence of hydrocarbon
shows.
- Production of geological, drilling and gas logs with
emphasis on geological interpretation of lithological beds and formations.
- Assist in core recovery and description as required.
- Assist in well test operations and sampling as required.
- Assist Data Engineer in their role, with respect to
monitoring drilling parameters, equipment calibration and maintenance.
You will be required to work at both
onshore & offshore oil installations, day or night in 12-hour shifts.
The average work rotations are up to 4 weeks at wellsite and 4 weeks off,
dependant on location of work. Suitable candidates are required to have a
flexible approach regarding working patterns and environments.
We are looking for highly motivated
and enthusiastic individuals with the ability to assimilate a wide range of
technical skills including geology, mechanics and electronics. You
must also be comfortable with solo travel and working with diverse groups of
people.
Candidates’ requirements:
- a degree in Geology or other relevant earth science subject
- strong technical and computer skills particular PC setup and
maintenance
- proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Word and
Excel), in addition to having excellent report writing skills
- high standards in verbal and written English
